Finally a live rock album to salivate over

He's one of the most iconic and legendary rock guitarists of all time. Former Guns 'n' Roses member Slash returns to his birthplace of Stoke On Trent, England for a one night only performance with a backing band that consists of Myles Kennedy (Alterbridge) on vocals, Todd 'Dammit" Kearns (Age of Electric) Bass and backing vocals, Brent Fitz (Theory of a Deadman, Alice Cooper) on drums, and rounding out the two guitar attack Bobby Schneck.

The show kicks off with a song titled "Been There Lately" and is the first of four songs to appear from Slash's first attempt as a solo artist with his band Slash's Snakepit. Myles Kennedy seems to have the swagger and vocal capabilities to pull these songs off as if he has been singing them all his life. The band also goes through a catalogue of songs from his days in Guns n' Roses which he had a large part in writing. Not surprisingly they are all from before the over produced , over inflated Use Your Illusion albums with the exception of 'Civil War" which appears on the second of the two album series. Again Kennedy does a top notch job, channeling his inner Axl Rose whist giving us his own interpretation of the song and is Pitch perfect throughout in a display of controlled fury that almost feels as if he his holding something back that by the end of the song you are left wishing he had unleashed.

The rest of the set list is comprised of songs from the self titled album from 2010 and includes the two songs in which Kennedy did the vocals for in "Starlight" and "Back from Cali" and a rollicking version of the song "Dr Alibi" originally recorded with Lemmy Kilmister from "Motorhead" in which Bassist Todd Kearns takes over on vocals for.Velvet Revolver Favorite Slither makes an appearance at the back end of the show and Slash even dusts off an old live favorite of his in a theme from "The Godfather" which turns into a solo showcasing his skills as one of the greatest Rock n Roll guitarists of all time. This one gets a little long winded but when we reach the end we are well rewarded with a seamless segway into the song with arguably the most identifiable guitar lick in modern rock history "Sweet Child O' Mine".

As the lead guitarist for Guns N' Roses, Slash established himself as one of hard rock's finest and most soulful soloists during the late '80s, technically adept yet always firmly grounded in the gritty Aerosmith and Stones licks he loved. Slash was born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, to artistic parents both involved in the entertainment industry; his mother was a clothing designer who worked on David Bowie's film The Man Who Fell to Earth, and his father designed album...
