Nothing Amazing

As a fanatic Bright Eyes fan, I immediately pre-ordered the box set from their website, only to find that the only truly amazing song is the song released for free on their site, Shell Games. I heard this song before the album was available for purchase, and loved it, however the rest of the album is not in the same Indie Rock style. I am a fan of all of Bright Eyes' previous albums, except for A Digital Ash In A Digital Urn, which was slow and depressing and used to much electronics etc. The majority of this album is like that. Conor's flawless lyrics are still there, of course, but I find it hard to appreciate them when I don't like the music. The only songs that I enjoy, as a fan of I'm Wide Awake and Cassadaga, are Shell Games, and to a certain extent, Jejune Stars and Ladder Song.

If you liked A Digital Ash In A Digital Urn, this album is for you, if you're not a fan of that album, then those three songs are what you should get. I hope this saves some people from disappointment.
