iTunes Review

The first album since his 2015 indie rock sojourn finds Kid Cudi back behind the microphone. He communes with the drum, modulating his voice in eerie and commanding tones, savouring each syllable. Willow Smith, Pharrell Williams, Travis Scott and André 3000 (billed as André Benjamin here) pick up valuable assists, with Three Stacks reasserting his status as a feature king, electrifying his bars on “By Design” and “The Guide”. Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ is a cleansing journey—Cudi acknowledging the past while keeping an eye on the future.

Album of his career, so far!

Kid Cudi is one of those triple threat stars. Starting out in the rap game with the very original and iconic hit 'Day n Nite' he put a mark on a genre that really craved a little more experimentation and 'soundscape' productions. But as is with artists that push the boundaries of originailty to find the newness, some of his follow up attempts althought great, never quite hit the mainstream with the affect of his debut.

As Drake started to crave out his signature style a shift happened in the genre that started to reconnect new audiences with the longer standing Kid Cudi. Even with self proclaimed weed use and themes that usually struggle to sell on an anti-gangsta persona Kid Cudi started to fit right back in. his experimental grooves suddenly sounded a touch like the niche that Drake was turning into the mainstream.

Then he landed some acting roles and well, turns out the Kid can act?! It left fans feeling like perhaps he was in pursuit of bigger things than his music career had earned him and as one critic once wrote "his looks and sensibilities are way to good for music anyway"

Reveiws of 'Indicud' and 'Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon' were solid but the fan base was not. Sales hit an all time low with 'Speedin Bullet 2 Heaven.' the album was very different but not all experiments and not all newness are good.

Turns out, when an artist with smarts (like the Kid) recognise what doesn't work they come back with something magic that definitelty does. Work!

Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' is my Album of 2016. Incredible production, great lyrics and as always Kid Cudi's vocal range although limited finds a sweet spot and hits it on every track. This is one of those albums that only gets better. Don't pass this up!

This is a hell of an effort and out classes most of the mainstream on almost every level. In this era of curated content it is hard for an artist like Kid Cudi to find his way through the jungle, but the fact this is hitting the front pages of iTunes should be evidence enough for you to risk you pennies on this!

This is the album you have been waiting for.
By Design, All In, Frequency... the track list don't quit, so make sure you hit it!

Kid Cudi is a Brooklyn-based rapper from Cleveland whose debut single, "Day 'n' Nite," became an online favorite in 2008. Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi in suburban Cleveland, his career took off after he moved to Brooklyn and became affiliated with Fool's Gold, the label of DJs A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs. The label released the Day 'n' Nite EP in February 2008 and circulated a Crookers remix around the blogosphere, drumming up a good deal of buzz in the process. It didn't hurt that Kid Cudi began...
