Album Review

With big mask (a mouse head) and big ego (Twitter wars, often bites the festival-owning hands that feed him, and enters the Gumball rally with a Ferrari with the Nyan cat meme garishly painted all over it), Deadmau5 aka Joel Thomas Zimmerman is the man EDM haters love to hate, that is, if Skrillex isn't around. It's worth mentioning for history's sake as the superstar producer's 2014 effort, While(1is a sign of über-ego, then Giorgio Moroder is an a-hole, as are all Moroder-esque moments that appear throughout While(1Midnight Express 2 movie and soundtrack. "Avaritia" goes cinematically farther and suggests the moody Blade Runner work of Vangelis before it grows into a heads-down club stomper. Bright sequencers arpeggiate like Tangerine Dream getting wistful on "Pets," but it's a Tan Dram to dance to once the light melody and house beat come gleefully into the picture. "Bleed" is an icy moment, and the "Survivalism" remix comes with some serious spite and grit, but the latter is a Nine Inch Nails number included in its Deadmau5 remix, and don't be surprised that a How to Destroy Angels remix ("Ice Age") is here too, because the producer's attitude toward the artist album is fresh and new and includes collaborations, including the post-original recording kind. Even the choice to make this a double album seems to have everything to do with the tracks being longer than usual, and if fans want a version that really makes mom and dad's record player obsolete, the digital edition comes with two megamixes, making this over four hours of the Mau5. Serene and sound and nothing like the gossip blogs infer, While(1Ghost in the Shell cast members.

Awesome Album
Dice 1

Avaritia: Nice track. It makes me want to dance

Coelacanth I: Nice and Dark Brooding Eletronica

Ice Age (deadmau5 Remix): Nice sounds I hear during the song and I am glad deadmau5 remixed this song.

My Pet Coelacanth: That song is really fun and bouncy at the start but in the middle of it, it gets soft and then fun and bouncy again:

Infra Turbo Pigcart Racer: Pretty long song but I did not fall asleep during it. But still I have to say that it’s a good song

Terrors In My Head: Nice and dark electronica. Not to mention that it has a awesome piano ending

Creep: Nice Arcade sounds and the slow beat

Somewhere Up Here: Feels like a rock song with the electric guitar and the snare drum

Phantoms Can’t Hang: Dosen’t remind me of anything but Joel is right, Phantoms really cannot hang (I think)

Gula: Pretty good piano start and dark sounds coming from it

Disc 2

Acedia: Piano start and dark sounds just like Gula.

Invidia: A piano solo. My Mom loved it.

Errors In My Bread: Intense and fast beat and has the same sound from Terrors In My Head.

Survivalism (deadmau5 Remix): Feels like I’m listening to the real song but it’s a good song. Another song remixed by deadmau5.

Silent Picture: Piano and Guitar Solo. Another song that my Mom loved

Rhyles Lament: Soft at the start and gets intense in the middle of it. My Mom never ever skipped it

Superbia: Another Piano Solo

Mercedes: Same with Phantoms Can’t Hang. This song does not remind me of anything

Bleed: Dark Electronica. The beat really comes at the end of the song

Ira: Yet another piano solo. Well mostly piano

Monday: Guitar start and an auto tuned voice in the middle of the song

A Moment To Myself: Nice and pretty cool electronic sounds.

Pets: This song is fun and bouncy.

Coelacanth II: Dark and really cool electronica just like Coelacanth I

Seeya: Nice funk and electronic sounds and a slow beat
