Album Review

Alternative and Christian rock band Skillet, composed of members John Cooper, Korey Cooper, Kevin Haaland, and Lori Peters, released Ardent Worship Live in late 2000. The release is the group's first live album, in addition to being their first praise- and worship-oriented project. It is one of three albums in a series issued by the band's label, Ardent. The release was recorded live at the Chi Music Room in Memphis, TN. Songs include Vineyard Music Group worship leader John Barnett's "Jesus, Jesus (Holy and Anointed One)" and Hillside Singers' Darlene Zschech's "Shout to the Lord."

Alternative CCM rockers Skillet formed in Memphis, TN, around the nucleus of lead singer and bassist John Cooper, guitarist Ken Steorts, and drummer Trey McClurkin. Debuting in 1996 with a self-titled LP, the trio returned two years later with Hey You, I Love Your Soul. Invincible followed in early 2000, and the group contributed three tracks to the Ardent Worship: Skillet Live compilation that same year.
