Not really that helpful

Half the time the app doesn't refresh to give you new info about recent earthquakes, they say in FAQ that's because they don't send notifications if it's revised but this would only apply if it sent the first notification out. Which it seems to fail at.
I dunno what the creators definition of functioning is but it seems mine is different. The other global eq apps are a lot better.
I feel like it should be better.

Hi, are you still having issues with the app? If you are we'd love to get a bit more detail (i.e what model of iPhone/iPad you have, and the problems you're having with the app). Send us an email at We don't resend notifications, but the quake list should refresh when you pull down from the top, and the quake details should be refresh every time you tap on the quake.

Disappointed and sad

This app used to be great. It has slowly deteriorated and some of the good features are now gone. Latest news is not what I want to know I want to know about the earthquakes in nz. It is awkward not intuitive and clumsy to use. Changing settings is not simple and they don’t remain on the settings. The drums are no longer viewable. The map slides all over the place and you cannot zoom in like you used to it is just frustrating to use

Hello, thanks for the feedback. You are able to turn off the news notifications if you'd like under the notification rules (you will still see the little red circle notification in the app if there is unread news). We have now tweaked the app so it should remember your notification rules and carry them over when the app updates. We wanted to simplify the app and not completely recreate the website. To get to the drums you'd now have to use the browser. We do think we've over-simplified the map, and will add details of New Zealand towns etc.

I get lots of notifications about up to the minute events but the app can sometimes be up to a day out. Usually a few hours out. Tap a notification and the app opens with something that happened six hours ago. Not good.
