Inside the September issue of Gibbons Stamp Monthly

The latest issue of Gibbons Stamp Monthly is available to download now. The September issue comes with another eclectic mix of in-depth articles, reader-favourite features and the latest hobby news from around the world.

A few highlights of this month’s issue include:

Queen Victoria Embossed Stamped-to-order Postal Stationery
Edward Klempka looks at stamped-to-order postal stationery introduced during the reign of Queen Victoria with stamps embossed on privately supplied paper. The first issues printed in 1855 are some of the most attractive stamps produced by Great Britain and, surprisingly, new discoveries, particularly of the compound printings, are regularly being found.

Nova Scotia Cent Remainders
From 1860 until the stamps of the Dominion of Canada were issued on 1 April 1868, the stamps of Nova Scotia were denominated in cents. With the introduction of the Dominion stamps the cent values were withdrawn and the remainders put into storage. These remainders were all but forgotten about until, a quarter of a century later, an enterprising stamp dealer from Prince Edward Island and a former employee of the Halifax Post Office joined forces to carry out ‘the biggest coup on the American continent’. Michael Peach reveals the full story of the Nova Scotia cent remainders.

All this and much more can be found in the September issue of Gibbons Stamp Monthly, which is available to download now.
