Ratings and Reviews

Constantly crashes and corrupts project files so much this feels like cheap Windows software!!

This update has introduced constant crashes and also creates project files that get corrupted so that you cannot open them again without crashing the application. This feels like I am running Windows, not MacOS!

Not for the old school.

This version is great, has a great intuitive user interface and everything is very easy to find.

I have encountered no bugs, (I'm sure there maybe some)

I can't rate a brand new Version for lack of Plugins, thats up to the 3rd party plug-in makers, I'm sure they are working very hard to update their plug-ins. The modern FrameWorks that are now finally being used in Motion are far easier to write with, so I think we will see lots of exciting plugins.

There is no dual monitor support, but Apple is headed to the single full screen mode, we have seen that in the Lion, iLife, Xcode, so this is no real surprise.

It seems to me that the old Final Cut Suit require a large amount of training and had a very high bar to entry. The people who have spent that time and money have a large investment in things remaining the same. This Version is not the same! It lowers the entry bar considerably. If you're an old FC user, don't upgrade, because its different. If you are interested in learning motion graphics and want get started then this version is for you. The Titling and Text on path makes it worth the price alone. This will add a lot of profession pazazz and advanced transitions to your iMove projects without the need to front for Final Cut Pro X.

At this price its a steal.

More than enough room for improvement

For someone who has been using the FCP suite for several years, I would be asking for my money back it I had paid anymore for it. While 64bit is a long overdue feature, The bugs and missing features pretty much write that off.

I'd recommend holding off for a few more versions. With no external monitor support, and lack of most 3rd party plug in support, I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before theses issues become a thing of the past.

> 64 bit
> Heaps Faster
> FCP X Integration with Titles, Generators and Effects
> Compatible with Motion 4 projects

> No external monitoring
> Limited 3rd party plug ins
> Horrible workspace layout and un-customisable layout - extremely un-intuitive and a lot of back and forwards with certain tabs
> Buggy

While I look forward to the (hopefully soon) upgrades, feature additions and fixes, I have yet to find a project I am comfortable to use Motion 5 with. I have spent some time researching and training, but am still apprehensive I can deliver while using this software. Although Motion will never be an After Effects industry Standard, It does have features and abilities better than AE, and I believe it can be a force to be reckoned with.
