Would expect more from suunto
I've use the app with their smart sensor, so that I do not need to use a watch for circuit, gym, swimming, boxing (punch bag) and x fit training. Initially no HR showed after pairing it and it seemed to be a common problem on the online forums. Customer feedback was prompt and after firmware update it would show the HR, but would at times struggle to pick it up and I still encounter frequent problems. If the Bluetooth signals is interrupted it supposedly download all the information once the signal is established, however this is also problematic at times. It lacks any function of importing data from the smart sensor after crashing, which is a major problem if you use it independently from the watch.
The ability to import and export information in indifferent formats from other apps is a necessity now days and it lacks this function.
Layout: the logbook history function and display is fine, but not as detailed as the online logbook.
Recording of workout function.
It has a very simple layout and it is easy to scroll through workout selection and display preferences. However It could be improved! General appearance is boring. Landscape function could be handy. The display preferences can only show 3 variables at a time and lots of black screen.
The HR smart sensor seems to work fine with other party apps. I've tested it with seconds pro and wahoo fitness, which seems to function much better and more reliably with the sensor than the suunto app and has a far superior layout.
In short. It is very temperamental and after struggling with it for over a year, Suunto seems uninterested in improving it.
