Slow
Since my iPad and phone got the new update it doesn't catch up to what I’ve typed it takes a few seconds for it to show up even if i slow my typing down it still does the same thing.
Slick and functional, now faster and less buggy
Updating my review now that Apple has addressed some of the previous issues!
I've used and loved the desktop version ever since it came out, and the first iPad version as well, and both were excellent.
Pages for macOS desktop is phenomenal. No, really this is pertinent. It is a masterpiece of genius which should have a tablet companion. - Not a replacement, mind you, that would defeat the strengths of each platform. Apple has hit this mark very well with this version of Pages for iOS.
Finally, after struggling with slow and buggy performance for several versions - even across various devices - Pages is back at the head of the pack:
- It's fast. At last. Like actually quick to use, with little to no lag on all functions I've tested so far.
- Cloud sync is a thousand times better. I don't like not having locally stored versions of documents on my iPad, but at least the system is functional, seamless and fast now.
- Usability within a document is excellent. I've tested the bejingoes out of it, and it's acceptably fast on my iPad Air 2. I did once get a keyboard issue where the backspace key jammed on until I lowered the keyboard, but nothing else so far.
All in all, a very worthwhile app to own or upgrade to, and a brilliant combo with Pages for Mac.
So five stars from me!
Disasterous!
I have used Pages every day for business. I have used it for over 10 years on iPads, iMacs, and MacBooks. I recently purchased an iPad Pro2018 because Pages appeared to be getting slow on my very old iPad. My God! This version of Pages that is on the iPad Pro is unusable. I literally CANNOT use it. It tells me files do not exist that I have just created. It loses files I can see on my iMac in iCloud. It produces multiple copies of the same document I am working on even if I haven’t closed that document. It hangs and tells me there are no documents in my iCloud. It can’t find documents in Dropbox. I delete documents and they show up again. I delete all the multiple copies it insists are conflicting copies and they show up again. It tells me the document I am working on has been closed by someone else. No. No-one else has access to the document. Apple, you HAVE to sort this out! How can you even put something like this on the market?
