Kimya Dawson

About Kimya Dawson

As one of the founding members of the folky indie pop act the Moldy Peaches, Kimya Dawson helped bring New York City's "anti-folk" movement to a much wider audience. As a solo artist, Dawson continued to adhere to that scene's punky yet gentle spirit. She's recorded several albums' worth of simple, acoustic-driven pop songs filled with a quirky child-like wonderment masking the often emotionally complex material therein. Dawson's profile exploded in late 2007 when six of her songs appeared on the soundtrack to the critically acclaimed hit film JUNO.
