In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of first strong memories I have is my parents taking me to see the movie Woodstock. Sly and the Family Stone absolutely blew my mind. I asked for some money so I could get my first LP…Stand. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Sly & The Family Stone, Stand! (Deluxe Edition) Sonny Rollins, Saxophone Colossus Rudy Van Gelder Remaster Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life These 3 albums were some of the first records I owned. I played them until they sounded all scratchy, memorizing lines, singing along, dancing around the room. They all had profound influence on me as an artist and a human being. It’s about not accepting a life of oppression and forced labor. It’s about striving for that which we all love and deserve - Freedom. Recently I had the opportunity to record and perform with the amazing Taj Mahal. What a beautiful, soulful experience! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? This is such a moving target when you’re an artist! There are always more interesting directions to explore, more deep combinations of music to play with. I reckon it’s like being a chef, where everywhere you travel, you find new ingredients.
