About Lindsey Buckingham

Whether he’s writing and performing with Fleetwood Mac or making more of the richly nuanced songs that have filled his solo career, Lindsey Buckingham has made an indelible mark on American music in his long career as a singer, songwriter, musician and producer. Born in Palo Alto, California, in 1949, Buckingham performed in folk, rock and psychedelic groups before forming a musical partnership with then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks in the early ‘70s. An offer to join an evolving London blues band named Fleetwood Mac became the pair’s unlikely route to rock superstardom as the group’s internal romantic melodramas fuelled some of the era’s most charged and poignant hits. Beyond the band, Buckingham continued to challenge himself on albums like 2008’s masterful Gift of Screws and other solo showcases of his fingerpicking guitar style, innovative production ideas and perceptive lyrics.
