Nordwand is a German pop group from Styria, Austria, with a boy band style and schlager material. Comprised of Wolfi Birnstingl (vocals; born 1979), Thomas Strizek (guitar; 1976), Chris Kreiner (bass; 1979), Wolfgang Nadrag (drums, guitar; 1980), and Chry Dietrich (keyboards; 1976), the band made its album debut in 2005 with Es Macht Boom on the Watts Music label. A second album, Nichts Haut Mich Um (2005), followed later in the year. The band's third album, Frauen Sind Wie Sterne (2007), was a breakout effort, reaching number 43 on the Austrian albums chart and spawning a couple singles ("Jenny Wird Erst 16," "Frauen Sind Wie Sterne"). Nordwand moved to Sony Music for their next album, So Nah (2009), a Top Ten hit on the Austrian albums chart. The album featured the single "Was Wenn Nicht Liebe (I Want It That Way)." Around the same time, Watts Music released Best of Nordwand (2009), a compilation of highlights from the band's back catalog. ~ Jason Birchmeier
