The Ergs!

About The Ergs!

A descendent of the good-natured, three-chord punk of the Ramones, the Ergs formed in 2000 and, following the genre heroes, christened the band after their monikers (Joey Erg, Jeff Erg, Mikey Erg). They were also a byproduct of the loose, uptempo spirit of ’90s pop-punk, and that spectrum of influences came together on early self-released records, before Whoa Oh released THREE GUYS, TWELVE EYES in 2001. Prone to adolescent chicanery, they released 2002’s BEN KWELLER EP, which actually replicated the artwork from one of that songwriter’s albums. However, by 2007, they were a serious stalwart on the New Jersey punk scene, having signed with Dirtnap for UPSTAIRS/DOWNSTAIRS and HINDSIGHT IS 20/20 MY FRIEND. In September 2008, the Ergs announced their amicable breakup after guitarist/vocalist Jeff Erg departed the band.
