About the Movie

Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson returns to Middle-earth with the first of three films based on J.R.R. Tolkien's enduring masterpiece. Set in Middle-earth 60 years before the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy, the adventure follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of dwarves on a journey into wild, treacherous lands swarming with beasts of every ilk. Although their goal lies to the East, they must first escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever...Gollum. Alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo gains possession of Gollum's "precious" -- a simple, gold ring tied to the fate of all Middle-earth.

A great return to Middle Earth

This a great film and an epic story. Like the Book that it its based on , its a different entity to the Lord of the Rings, and in essence a prequel to the Classic Trilogy in a very minor sense so should be enjoyed as such. This is more of an adventure than an epic, the beginning might seem a bit lengthy, but in return you actually get character development and become more invested in the players. Was admittedly not a fan of the get out of jail free card at the end (damn it PJ I know exactly how this could have been adressed too!), but Bilbos encounter with an old villan more than makes up for it. Its a solid installment of the franchise.

The Hobbit is the greatest movie ever. The 2.7GB memory usage and $20 cost is nothing compared to the high-quality picture and AMAZING storyline. You would have to have $19.98 or less not to buy this :)

Love this movie! Best movie 2012 I belive.
