About the Movie

An extraordinary true story, Oranges and Sunshine is a powerful and provocative tale of courage and compassion from the producers of The King’s Speech. Margaret Humphreys (Emily Watson), is an ordinary social worker from Nottingham who uncovered one of the most significant social scandals of recent times: the deportation of thousands of children from the United Kingdom to Australia. Almost single-handedly, against overwhelming odds and with little regard for her own well-being, Margaret reunited thousands of families, brought authorities to account and drew worldwide attention to an extraordinary miscarriage of justice.

Customer Reviews

Oranges & Sunshine

A staggering account of a relatively modern day social engineering experiment. Even today much harm continues to be done in the name of state sanctioned social welfare and children are all to often the victims. Watch this film be informed and then appreciate the same thing still happens today on a far more individualised scale but only intra-country &

Sad movie

A story worth telling, just sad as its about kids getting the roughest time. Governments using kids as slaves and being used by paedophilic priests. Shame on the governments!
