About the Movie

Luke Skywalker begins a journey that will change the galaxy in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke is thrust into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire.

Customer Reviews

The original and best!

The first and, in my view, the best of the Star Wars series as it’s the only one that serves as a self-contained story. The pre-cgi effects don’t seem to date, despite Lucas’ ill-advised attempt to insert some new ones, largely because it is driven by the sound-effects and bombastic musical score. Clearly, one of the iconic movies of all time, it’ is surprising how fast and loose the direction is regarding the acting and dialogue. The upshot of this however, is to add another element not found in later movies - a little bit of wit and brio. A great adventure movie!
