Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson form a comic dream team in this smart, funny comedy from the director of The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me. Looking to shake up their routine lives, three amateur bird watchers compete to become the ultimate “birder” by spotting the greatest number of species within a single calendar year. But the friendly rivalry soon turns into a hilariously complicated cross-country adventure as each man begins to realize that the quest for success comes at a price — and that’s not chicken feed!
This is a lovely film
It is great to see these three excellent actors working together in grown up roles. Instead of quick gags and going for the obvious jokes, this film is thoughtful and interesting. The supporting actors are also excellent and it all works together to deliver a well paced and satisfying film.
Bird watchers will love it for the birds, there are also a lot of beautiful settings, but for me it was a film about why people compete, and what competition adds to our lives as well as what it takes away.
Worth a watch.
My expectations for entertainment and a few laughs were high, but this movie doesn't deliver at all. BORING. The only reason I watched the whole thing is because it was streaming to the seat in front of me on a long-distance flight. I should have turned it off and people-watched -- way more entertaining. Owen Wilson can't act, he has no 'presence' and he's a wet-blanket; can't think of a single movie that he's in that was actually worthy of my time. Now I feel like an idiot.
