Plot Summary

In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Jamie Bell), Marcus sets out across Hadrian's Wall and into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father's memory and retrieve the lost legion's golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth.

Customer Reviews

The Eagle

Quiet cool. Followed it reasonably well. Wouldn't say it was epic, or what i like to refer to as "hearty" but if your into these kinds of movies might be worth a look if your like me, hungover and in bed with nothing better to do.

The Eagle

A jolly good story and a good movie.

Disappointed

Rosemary Sutcliffe deserves better treatment than this. The first half of the film is OK for Romanophiles, and sets things up fairly well, but the second half is a struggle to get through. In essence this film starts life at the top of a hill, but trudges all the way towards the bottom by the end.
