Born in 1977, Colombian superstar Shakira recorded her first album at age 14, but her breakthrough came with 1995's Pies Descalzos, a No. 1 hit in eight different countries. Mixing folk, Latin pop, rock and R&B into a global groove, her 2001 album Laundry Service won her a massive English-speaking audience. Part of the "Latin Invasion” along with artists like Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias, Shakira has continued to record in both English and Spanish, and she's collaborated with an all-star lineup of international pop hitmakers like Beyoncé, Pitbull and Wyclef Jean.
