To Help overcome some of the obstacles presented by COVID-19 the jazz band collectively composed, arranged and recorded their own original composition.
The arrangement was then assembled using sections arranged by individuals and groups within the ensemble. These parts were then assembled. The full arrangement is more than 7 minutes long and will be played when normal rehearsals resume in the spring, but as part of the final for the class the arrangement was abbreviated and students submitted recordings of their parts, resulting in a 3-minute version of the composition that was then assembled and mixed. They were able to create this in spite of never having played even one note together or meeting in person the entire semester.
