Description

The BHP is a chronological retelling of the history of Britain with a particular focus upon the lives of the people. You won't find a dry recounting of dates and battles here, but instead you'll learn about who these people were and how their desires, fears, and flaws shaped the scope of this island at the edge of the world.

Great voice, very accessible

I love the story being told. The host, Jamie, has good tone of voice and makes it easy to follow the story.

There are some problems with his approach to storytelling, however. For the latter half of last year he's chosen to stall the historical narrative while covering topics like Anglo-Saxon life and culture (he's since returned). I mean, they are interesting topics as well but couldn't you have limited those side episodes to once every 2-3 episodes while keeping the main narrative going.

Also I didn't care too much to hear 10! episodes of interviews with a bunch of experts involved with the Staffordshire hoard, who each basically said the same things without adding a lot of new information than the previous one. I could only bear to listen to the first two or maybe five, but had to stop once I realized they were all like, why don't you come back in a year or so and let us finish our study to give definite answers to your questions. I think Jamie could have listened to that and limited himself to 2 or 3 episodes of these for the moment.
