During the early rock & roll and pop R&B era, singers and groups often toured in packages, taking the stage for a quick set of four or five songs, then clearing out of the way for the next act to do its four or five songs, and in some ways that's what this "meets" series from Collectables feels like, which combines two vocal artists — five songs apiece. This one combines dance crooners Bobby Freeman with Ral Donner to the benefit of neither, and the whole disc is over in 20 minutes. You're going to hear a song or two you like, though, and the series is budget-priced, so it's a tradeoff. Call it the briefest of introductions to each artist — just like those old package concert tours.

Bobby Freeman's energetic vocals punctuated two R&B dance hits in the late '50s and mid-'60s. The San Francisco performer started the Romancers as a 14-year-old and later formed the West Coast Vocaleers, whose sound was much more pop-oriented than the Harlem group of the same name. Freeman's single "Do You Want to Dance" just missed topping the R&B charts in 1958, staying at number two for two weeks (number five pop).
