With its friendly approach and awesome updates, Duolingo’s long been one of our favorite apps for learning another language. Its secret: making the process genuinely fun. Engaging mini-games test your reading, writing, and speaking skills, and joining a club (where you can encourage and compete with others) adds a great social element. Bonus: all those languages and games are available for free!

Really cool app

If you really want to learn a foreign language then I don't know of a better app than this one. In general, the learning system itself is great (depending on the language) - you can learn according to the suggested path but also side topics like alphabets and their separate exercises for example in Japanese. Each topic/section is repeated in the exercises many times which makes it hard to forget what you have learned. A simple reward and ranking system motivates you even more to continue learning. I can even say it's addictive :D very cool app but I think it could be a bit more polished. E.g. during the lesson not always every words and sentences are translated (when you click check answer). Another drawback is the fact that when we have a task that involves selecting the correct answer based on sound, clicking on the answer itself already produces sound, which makes us know the answer before we check it - it may seem that we are taking a shortcut.
Overall a very cool and encouraging app to learn.

Nice, BUT…

A cool app, nice graphics and good at motivating. HOWEVER. There are some things that really bother me. In the English course teaching Spanish, the language is actually Mexican Spanish, some words simply do not work in Spain. When I learn Spanish with the Spanish flag being the symbol, I would like to learn S P A N I S H please. There are also some mistakes in the Polish course teaching English. Some are not of great importance, but some are. Had I not known English rather well, I would never be able to understand even basic rules from this course (I checked out of curiosity, I’m Polish). It is a shame that the tips you advertise so much appear in what seems to be maybe 3-4 courses, if not less. The new outlook is awful as well. Stories were a cool idea as long as you could choose when and which one to read, plus to have the Conversation Mode available. In most of the courses you cannot even see what you learn in which unit since there are no descriptions. Before, if you wanted to learn or revise e.g. food vocabulary, you could easily find it, now that feature exists no longer. The only thing that keeps me from quitting is the streak that I have. It is no longer fun or interesting in that version, only confusing and disappointing. Please go back to the previous outlook.
