Pop singer and songwriter David Archuleta has built a successful career since finishing in second place on Season 7 of American Idol in 2008. • Archuleta was born into a musical family. His mother was a salsa singer and dancer and his father was a jazz musician. • He began singing at age 6 and won the children’s division of the Utah Talent Competition at age 10. In 2003, Archuleta was crowned the Junior Vocal Champion on Star Search 2. • In 2008, Archuleta finished in second place on American Idol.
