About Millencolin

Millencolin were a major catalyst of the ’90s Swedish punk movement. Although the band occasionally dabbled in ska-punk and teeth-rattling post-hardcore, their sweet spot was chugging punk, as exemplified by their 2000 set-list staple “No Cigar”, from Pennybridge Pioneers. Millencolin came together in 1992, forming in Örebro, Sweden, around a lineup featuring vocalist/bassist Nikola Šarčević and guitarists Mathias Färm and Erik Ohlsson. The group released several demo tapes the following year, with drummer Fredrik Larzon joining the band. A record deal with the fledgling label Burning Heart Records led to their 1994 debut album, Tiny Tunes (later renamed Same Old Tunes); a subsequent American record deal with the seminal punk label Epitaph and an appearance on the 1997 Vans Warped Tour expanded Millencolin’s reach outside of Sweden. Post-2000, the band embraced more straightforward rock and alternative sounds, although they never strayed far from their punk roots, with steady touring and occasional studio albums, highlighted by 2005’s Kingwood and 2019’s Sos.
