Contrary to what many people think, the bible is not just a history or fantasy book. Beyond the surface layer lies an intricate web of graciously intertwined symbols which in its entirety can be understood as a record or blueprint of inner dynamics within our human psychology. In this way, each and every story in the bible is not a depiction of historical or legendary circumstances but a mirror of our very own inner life. By decoding these stories and characters we can reveal the hidden connections between seemingly random thoughts and feelings and entirely different dimensions of being. Put simply, the bible does not talk about what's outside of us, but what's on the inside. Although there are names and places in the bible that relate to this world, it talks about another world entirely, and any attempts to approach the bible archaeologically or genealogically – while possible and legitimate in their own right – will not yield any of its inner perceptions. Put simply, the bible is like a kaleidoscope, in that it offers us a radically different perspective on everyday life. By gently turning around the symbols and their meaning in our hearts and minds we participate in the emergence of ever-new configurations and patterns of light. In this podcast we try to approach this inner world through the lens of Hebrew language and letters, building on a rich tradition of interpretation and storytelling. Stories for a new people
God has a reputation for renewing his revelation of love and conciliation throughout history. He is also known for using people who do not meet the world's expectations. I have found Eti Shani to be both inspirational and challenging to my faith paradigm. She brings a fresh breath of nuance to a timeless story. The greatest love story ever told - the unfolding of God's pursuit and love of a peculiar people, you and me!
It's amazing to hear the connection of the ancient Hebrew sources filtered back through modern language. Love it.
