A great podcast!

I stumbled across japanesepod101 quite by accident..., and boy am I glad that I did! Japanesepod101 gives you what books cannot. Hear it and repeat it. Hear the actual pronounciation of words as spoken by real native speakers! Peter does an excellent job of steering the lessons and Natsuko, Kazunori and Sakura deliver the goods. They not only break down the words syllable by syllable but they provide insight and tidbids of japanese lifestyle to put the lessons into context. Lessons take on the form of an interview session but the chemistry is such that it feels more like good friends talking and having a good time. This makes for an enjoyable listening experience that is sure to help the listener obsorb and retain the material. Japanese Culture Classes provide the student with a respite from the standard lessons and presents cultural material, these are fun and interesting! (you will still learn someJapanese words..., very sneaky Peter San!) Survival Series Podcasts provde the "must know" phrases to help the student cope with real world situations, once you master these you will be ready for anything from personal introductions to ordering 'uni' at your favorite restaurant.., what else do you need?!? Overall a great podcast, I'd give it 10 stars if this website would allow it! Great job and thanks! -Troy

No longer entirely free

JapanesePod101 lost its entirely free character when it reorganized a few weeks ago. You can still receive the podcast, but ALL supplementary materials (including PDFs, kanji and transcripts) have been sequestered in a two tiered $ub$criber$ only category. Some portions of the previously newbie-friendly dialogs now pass by with a jolly "time's up, so download the PDF if you'd like to know what just happened." In another life, Peter, when we're both fat cats.

Help For The World's Hardest Language

Lessons here are basic but essential. The US Department of State rates Japanese as a "Superhard Language", and for good reason. That's why this podcast is a vital partner in the struggle to master this daunting tongue. These lessons are short, to the point, well-explained, with clear-talking native speakers who really understand how to sound things out.
