contextualized orthodox Christian teaching
Mark Driscoll can offend some at times; however, his teaching and theology are clearly orthodox and present a high view of Jesus and of the Bible. A reveiwer above commented that Mark Driscoll is not teaching what Christianity is about and in turn recommended Rob Bell of Mars Hill Bible Church. I could not disagree more. Driscoll's teaching presents timeless truths that have been accepted by Bible-believing Christians for 2,000 years, albeit in a sometimes-unconventional way. In contrast, Rob Bell (and others in the emergent movement) are trying to re-write the Bible into a neo-liberal form that is more palatable to them and to the world. The Gospel message as presented in the Bible is by its very nature offensive. We should either accept it or reject it on its own terms based on our own analysis. Trying to water it down into something that is more tolerable to us is simply not an intellectually-honest option. Say what you want about Mark Driscoll. He is honest and pulls no punches about what the Bible says. Some people just don't like that.
Part Apostle Paul, part George Carlin.
What’s this? (Gasp.) The Word of God delivered by someone in a contemporary, refreshing, humorous manner? Make no mistake, Mark Driscoll’s sermons are Biblical and Evangelical through and through. He cuts to the core, exposing sin and elevating Jesus in a way that’s both FUNNY and ENTERTAINING -- two of the seven words you can’t say in church.
Pastor Mark has quickly become my favorite Christian speaker. He is in love with Jesus, and He makes me love Jesus more. This is my favorite podcast.
