What makes Rob's teaching so effective, is that he uses history to bring the Bible to life. His understanding of the culture and language of the time, help me to understand God not only in the big picture of life, but also in the small details.
historic orthodox christian faith
i love that the top podcast is someone heading up the road of historic, biblically sound faith. rob bbell, nt wright, scott mcknight, dallas willard...so many more are really getting it in a beautiful way. its most exciting. thank you bell and mars hill for your honesty, intellect, and prayerful spirit. for those who are being miss led by the rob bell criticism... go to the church's website - mars hill .org and read their theology statement - it will put your mind at ease.
Lack of Truth
If I would have written a review 5 years ago about this ministry, I would have given it 5 stars; as for now, as a more mature Christian, I embrace truth rather than feelings. Many of this church's sermons are surrounded in how to be a better person rather than how to grow in Holiness and Righteousness. Many of the lectures do capture the hearts of man but "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?"- Jeremiah 17:9. This church would never dare to offend the wicked hearts of man. Real churches must deliver truth through the Bible, the inspired word of God, even if it hurts, "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12. But as for this church, their preachers and sermons speak far from reality; its rather sermon full of stories, analogies, colors, and music that bring out superficial tears of man rather than a brokeness of the heart in the presence of all mighty God. For this podcasts, I can't prevent you from subscribing to it, but if anything, SEEK TRUTH, even if it hurts because the TRUTH shall set you free.
