Refreshing - Contextual political Talk

Shared Sacrifice is an insightful and refreshing break from typical political or public interest talk shows. The show’s hosts, Gary Barkley and Matt Stannard engage their guests with the logic, reason, and respect sadly lacking from most of today’s discourse. Instead of following the path of “gotcha politics”, Gary and Matt’s goal is to provide the space in which guests can create their own context, free from the constraints of today’s soundbite driven mainstream media culture. While the show is progressive in nature, Shared Sacrifice invites guests from across the political spectrum (or continuum as Barkley calls it) ranging from the gay Log Cabin Republicans, to Green Party presidential candidate, Cynthia McKinney, and Libertarian vice presidential candidate, Wayne Allyn Root. The show engages authors, intellectuals and activists such as Damon Linker, author of “The Theocons: Secular America Under Siege,” Amnesty International, and legal scholars, in a national conversation on hard-hitting issues such as torture, rendition, and the hijacking of our government by a narrow idealogical elite. Gary and Matt make an effective and unique team. Barkley, a gay Iraq War veteran and author of “Shared Sacrifice: Don’t Ask Don’t Tell & the Global War on Terror” began working with Matt Stannard, an academic, activist, and debate coach from Wyoming, to start a national conversation that they believe America needs to correct the course a war for profit and rampant consumerism have put us on. Gary seems to handle most of the editorial (some might say polemical) part of the show, while Matt engages in thoughtful and well researched conversation. For a couple of beginners with a show, these guys are great. The Shaman
