    Capitalizing on Social Capital

    Capitalizing on Social Capital

The capital raised and traded on social networks (both online and offline) needn’t be solely about advertising.  We explore how our individual actions can potentially be harnessed and coordinated into truly synergistic collective actions. Dr. Jeremy Pitt’s research into the reinvigoration of Social Capital with the goal of building collective awareness forms the basis of discussion for this episode.

Does Technology Challenge Us As Spiritual Beings?

Does Technology Challenge Us As Spiritual Beings?

That’s the big question and it was asked by one of our favorite and most popular guests on The COIL, Dr. Katina Michael, Associate Dean of International, University of Wollongong, NSW Australia.  In a bit of a format departure from our typical episode structure, the hosts valiantly attempt to answer the aforementioned “big question” and it quickly evolves into a spirited discussion on techno-spirituality.  Perhaps the discussion didn’t evolve at all – the entire episode was intelligently designed.  The only way to be certain is to listen and judge for your self.

Does Social Really Matter to Business?

Does Social Really Matter to Business?

While the importance of social media in branding and marketing is unquestionable, plenty of questions remain as to the effect of social on the more mundane aspects of business, government, and education.  Perhaps it would be better to ask: If social is a daily part of your customers, employees, citizens, or students lives – How can it not be an integral part of all of your strategic planning?
After 5 years of intensive hyperbolic furor the evidence of the importance of social to the business of business remains somewhat elusive.  Noted industry analysts Howard Hecht and Fred McClimans will mow down the walled garden of the social media elite and clearly break down the good, bad, and irrelevant aspects of social as it pertains to business. Fred and Howard are joined by a panel of industry experts to dive deeply into what happens when social is forced to get real and the shortest possible route to get it there.  Among the hard-hitting questions the panel will tackle are:
What is the best way to encourage engagement in a non-branding/non-marketing business social initiative? What, if any, are the linkages between the Collaborative Economy, Social Media, and Enterprise Social? Who are the best people in an organization to spearhead an Enterprise Social program? What is the real value, measured in dollars, of social collaboration?

So, BTR actually does have good stuff, too?

Not saying the BTR tag on a podcast is the kiss of death - but it certainly doesn't typically add creed in my book. This one is actually really good! 2 ex-Analysts talk to a pretty cool Boston based Women's startup expert and they all have something to say and it's all worth listening to! This is their 1st episode; they certainly earned a listen for the 2nd.
