The Japan Venture Show was launched at the end of 2014 with the ambition to spread the entrepreneurship mindset in Japan. In this podcast I interview entrepreneurs and other actors of the local start-up scene, asking them about their stories, their successes and also their struggles. More than just a business program, this show covers multiple topics related to life improvement in general such as productivity, life hacking and financial freedom… Since this podcast is still at its early stage, just like a start-up, it is meant to evolve and change to best fit listeners’ tastes and expectations. Hello, by the way, I am the guy behind this podcast. My name is Frederic Peyrot, a French citizen living in Japan since 2009. I am working for a leading IT company and I also built my own Tokyo-based start-up. I am passionate about life improvement, productivity and entrepreneurship. As I was regularly meeting with people from various backgrounds, I realized how rich it was to just listen to people’s stories. When you stop talking about yourself and just listen with an open mindset, it’s amazing how much you learn and grow. This is precisely what I want to share here. Therefore, I really hope you’ll find value that will make your life better.

Redirects Direction To Self

I do like the guests of the show. The problem is that the host tends to interrupt the guest many times, and redirects attention back to himself. I get the feeling the host self promotes himself , or expresses his own personal opinions in every single interview, it is very annoying at times. It becomes a self interview each episode.

I wish the host would give the guest more time to talk in between questions, before interrupting them.

Engaging, Insightful, and quite unique

I've been listening to several "entreprenorial" podcasts about startups these last few months and I was really happy to discover this one. All the other ones are based in and focused on silicon valley.

This one has a really unique perspective. It's not just the fact that it covers Japanese startups, it's that most guests aren't Japanese. It's a fantastic blend of culture specific insights and approaches with general start-up advice that's universal.

The host is excellent, asking engaging questions and reiterating some of the points the guests make which helps confirm that you understood them correctly. Also, I'm planning to visit all of the recommended restaurants the next time I'm in Tokyo!
