German vocalist Freddy Sahin-Scholl, best known as the "man with two voices," was born Freddy Scholl in Heilbronn in 1953. Having never met his parents, a German mother and an American soldier, he was raised in an orphanage, where his musical talent was soon discovered and nurtured. Despite enjoying only a small number of piano lessons, he kept playing the piano and developed his compositional skills. At 16, Scholl became a male nurse and worked in a hospital for the next 25 years before quitting his job in 1993 and using his savings to record his music. He released his debut album Carpe Diem in 1999, using the stage name "Galileo". The self-produced effort was a showcase for his vocal skills, which enable him to sing both baritone and soprano, thereby allowing him to sing duets with himself. Scholl sang with Shirley Bassey at a UNESCO event and became an ambassador for the Special Olympics. In 2003, Edsel re-released the album, and Scholl performed at the Nokia Night of the Proms concert series the same year. After friends had to convince the reluctant Scholl to participate at all, he became the winner of the fourth season of RTL's talent show Das Supertalent (the German version of Britain's Got Talent) in 2010. Carpe Diem was re-released once again, this time by Sony under Sahin-Scholl's real name, hitting number three in the German album charts and number four in the Austrian charts. Freddy Sahin-Scholl is married to talent agent Jasmin Sahin, who works as his manager.
