About Bacilos

Though they met while attending the University of Miami in Florida, Bacilos’ members hail from Brazil, Colombia, and Puerto Rico. ∙ The group’s sophomore album, Caraluna, won a pair of Latin Grammy Awards, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. ∙ After their Grammy win, the band was recruited to record a song for a candy bar commercial, and their track “Mi Primer Millón” was licensed for an automobile ad. ∙ “Difícil,” from vocalist Jorge Villamizar’s solo album El Día Que Vuelva, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart. ∙ Villamizar has written with Julieta Venegas, Marc Anthony, and Paulina Rubio, and he won a Latin Grammy Award for penning Luis Enrique’s “Yo No Sé Mañana.” ∙ Villamizar is a judge on the Ecuadorian version of televised singing competition The Voice.
