A good beat never hurt anybody; in fact, sometimes it can help one hear a song in a completely new way. Bringing in a set of expert musicians and DJs, Einaudi has undergone yet another reinvention, this time illuminating his 2015 record Elements from a distinctive standpoint. Although brief, Elements (Remixes) invites one to contemplate what lies at the intersection of classical, dance and post-rock. While Mogwai’s rendition of “Drop” is a thrilling study in building tension, Starkey’s remix of the same song is more pensive, taking the opportunity to examine some of its subtle electronic possibilities. Eagles & Butterflies offers a more straightforward techno update for the title track.

Pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi was born in Turin, November 23, 1955. His mother, also a pianist, would play for him as a young child, planting the seeds for what would become a fruitful, illustrious career. Einaudi studied under Luciano Berio at the Conservatory of Milan, graduating with a diploma in composition. In 1982 his talents would win him a scholarship to the Tanglewood Music Festival.
