Rush (Remastered)

Rush’s first album is a gleeful exploration of blues-based heavy rock from a young band with confidence to burn. The riffs are taut and funky (“Finding My Way”, “What You’re Doing”), aiming for the monolithic raunch of early Led Zeppelin rather than the intricate prog that would eventually become their stock in trade. There’s much fun to be had in the biting interplay between Alex Lifeson’s probing guitar and Geddy Lee’s Robert Plant-like screams, particularly in the lengthy improvisations of “Working Man” and “Here Again”.
