Part of the ever-increasing wave of post-metal bands that showed up at the midpoint of the 21st century's first decade, Minnesota's Battlefields (Rusty Steele -- vocals, Andrew Wallin -- guitar, Matt Ricigliano -- guitar, Ryan Coffer -- bass, and Rob Schmidt -- drums) released their first album, Stained with the Blood of an Empire, in 2006 and drew comparisons to the likes of Neurosis. The critically well-received band then released an EP, the one-track Entourage of the Archaic, in 2007. ~ Chris True
