About Escapade

The much-lauded space rock band Escapade was formed in 1996 by drummer Hadley Kahn. Although capable of playing straight-out space rock, the group specialize in a more unified, improvisational take on the genre. Influenced by Krautrock and psychedelic bands of the 1960s and 1970s, Escapade nonetheless has produced albums that do not simply sound like copies of another era. The band's lineup has changed over the years, but as of 2001, it consisted of Paul Hilzinger (keyboards), Paul Casanova (guitar), John Ortega (keyboards, sound processing), Russell Giffen (bass), and Rob Giffen (guitars and loops). Due to a Faulty Premonition (2000) has often been cited as the group's best. 2000's Remembrance of Things Unknown is a collection of demos and unreleased recordings by the group. Obscured Dialogues (1997) is a CD-R recorded at various gigs and rehearsals using unprofessional recording equipment. ~ Geoff Orens
