About Mike Morgan and The Crawl

b. 30 November 1959, Dallas, Texas, USA. Morgan was a motorcycle racer before applying himself seriously to playing blues guitar. He wears an eyepatch over his right eye as the result of a racing crash, making his appearance rather piratical. His band, the Crawl, was formed in the mid-80s with harmonica player Lee McBee. The band’s repertoire placed them alongside Anson Funderburgh And The Rockets and Ronnie Earl’s Broadcasters and successive albums have not seen any concerted stylistic change. In line with the James Harman and William Clarke bands, they have experimented with an acoustic approach without much success. Morgan stopped touring with the band in the early 90s. His 1994 collaboration with Jim Suhler of Monkey Beat pitted his more traditional stance against Suhler’s post-SRV thrash without complete success.
