About Watter

Prog-influenced indie rock outfit Watter were formed by drummer Britt Walford and multi-instrumentalists Zak Riles and Tyler Trotter in Louisville, Kentucky in the early part of the 2010s. Walford was previously best known for his work in legendary underground mystics Slint and hadn't surfaced with a new project for the better part of 20 years before the arrival of Watter. Riles had been involved with math-folk-rockers Grails. The bandmembers worked on their debut album, This World, in their collective studio, with guests on the recordings as wide-ranging as the For Carnation's Todd Cook, vocalist Dane Waters, Rachel's pianist Rachel Grimes, and even King Crimson alumnus Tony Levin playing bass on one track. The album saw release in mid-2014 and the band played selected tour dates in April of that year supporting like-minded droners Om. In 2017, Watter returned with their sophomore album, History of the Future. ~ Fred Thomas
