“Little color stories” started as a photographic project. Then it became a book. A new kind of book. One with words, photographs, colors and sounds. One you should visualize, touch, listen and feel. This is a book with little colored stories about life and death, joy and sorrow, feeling and emptiness, calm and violence.
It is Romania – apparently not an easy-to-understand-country. It will ask for your attention and open-mindedness. The following little colored stories will lead you through an archaic realm, with customs and mysteries; an East-European country that abounds in myths, legends and superstitions; a painting in grey shades with resplendent splashes of color.
The author, Octavian Bâlea, is a talented Romanian photographer. And painter. And designer. And – as I recently found out – he seems to be quite good with words. Octavian Bâlea is one of those who not only see the world differently, but also presents it in a challenging exercise of awareness.
