Description

What if evil had a soul? Locked away for the good of humanity. What if that soul got freed? How do you send it back?

Viscount Nickodemus Bedlam is a dragon, who happens to also be a vampire. He has power and money. A nice, controlled life, with few surprises. All of that changes in three days. First he's descended upon by Scythe Arkenlight, who is looking for her sister and to gain access to some of the Viscount's books. Then, in a distant place a young apprentice inadvertently summons the soul of evil. When the hapless apprentice is destroyed by the soul of evil, it falls to the Viscount and Scythe to find answers.
The Viscount turns to the quasi-sentient sword of his family, The Sword of Bedlam, which was made to hunt and destroy evil. When the sword senses the Viscount in danger from the soul of evil, it takes the only step it can to protect him, by absorbing him into itself.
Scythe turns to her family after the Viscount vanishes in front of her, only to learn that they can't interfere directly. With the help of the Viscount's Aunt and his former bond-mate, she embarks on a journey to return the soul of evil to where it belongs.
