In just two years, Blossoms traded scaffolding-yard rehearsal spaces for Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, and earned a Mercury Music Prize nomination for 2016’s gleaming eponymous debut. “Please believe me/I don’t wanna be a star,” croons Tom Ogden on the skinny-jeaned melancholy of “Stranger Still”, but his plea is likely to go in vain. Cool Like You double downs on the Stockport band’s energising, stadium-sized choruses while darker themes of heartbreak (“I Can’t Stand It”) and homesickness (“Love Talk”) add gorgeous, gloomy motifs on fame.
