Singer Jean Sablon made his name known in the '30s and '40s by performing songs not only from his native France but from other countries as well all over the world. Frémeaux & Associes have collected some of his hits, along with others that have been reissued for the first time, on World Famous Crooner 1931-50. This means that Sablon favorites like "Le Fiacre," "J'Attendrai," and "La Chanson des Rues" are all included, as well as tracks such as "La Vie en Rose," "Porque," and "I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now," which had been made famous by other singers. Sablon's great silky voice is shown off well on these recordings, which makes this two-disc, 38-song compilation a pretty decent introduction to the singer, or a good addition to a collection.
