While Elder Sign: Omens brilliantly conveys the spirit of the Elder Sign dice game, a few noteworthy differences were adopted to optimize the mobile play experience:

-A limited number of available Ancient Ones streamlines the game play experience while offering adjustable levels of difficulty. Face Yig in normal mode, Azathoth or Tsathoggua in hard mode, or Cthulhu or Ithaqua in very hard mode (in-app purchases required to face Cthulhu and Ithaqua).
-A number of subtle changes increase the peril of defending humanity. For example, the random negative effects drawn every midnight are more challenging, and the frequency of “no effect” results has been decreased. Monsters have likewise been altered to make them more difficult.
-Finally, there are no Ally cards in Elder Sign: Omens, which further streamlines play while increasing the overall challenge.

Great game - limited without the add ons

The game is great, but be prepared that you will want to buy the add ons for max enjoyment.

Decent version of the game

First off the good stuff: This is a fairly faithful implementation of the game, which is nice when you are alone.

Less good is the fact that some rules differ from the board game, and the expansion isnt included.

The scenarios are a nice touch, but they are too unbalanced. I've been playing the Cthulhu scenario some 50 times, and still havent won, despite having maximum help on my side (8 dice, rerolls, being able to refresh some dice, assistance from several investigators). Why? Because in the end it comes down to rolling dice and the dices are loaded. Not in your favor though. Statistically I should have won at least 5 of my games, but no such luck.

Also, the load screens, animations and pop-up-screens are very annoying after a while, and some of it can be turned off. Not all of it though, which is very annoying.

In summary: the board game is better and more fun, but requires friends around to play (well, technically you can play several investigators yourself, but it is not the same thing). This is a decent substitute, but be aware of the flaws and dont expect to win against the game in the Cthulhu scenario. Ever.

Riktigt kul brädspel! Har lirat 3x nu och inte klarat det än.

Till er som har problem med krasher. Mitt krashade också hela tiden första försöket, startade om iPaden (1st gen) och har inte haft en enda krash sen dess! (Generellt knep som brukar hjälpa instabila nyinstallerade appar).

Utvecklaren Fantasy Flight Games har inte informerat Apple om dess integritetspraxis och hantering av data.
