Jakarta is sinking. The capital of Southeast Asia's most populous country can no longer support its own weight, and is sinking into the sea at a record rate. In response, the Indonesian government has decided to move administrative government functions to the island of Kalimantan (also known as Borneo). In this episode of the NOVAsia podcast, we talk with Dima, an Indonesian student at Yonsei GSIS, to hear what she has to say about what this change means to her country.

China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has given rise to two broad concerns within the international community. It has been criticized for funding environmentally unsustainable energy and infrastructure projects around the world, and it has been accused of catching developing countries in a "debt-trap."

Brexit has been the defining event of European politics since the British people voted to leave the European Union in June 2016. Since then, British Prime Minister Theresa May has been unable to produce a deal that can satisfy Britain's parliament.

The original plan was for the UK to leave the European Union on March 29, 2019. However, Theresa May was forced to request an extension to get enough time to finalize her deal. She received first a short extension to April 12, and then a longer one to the end of June.

On April 8, editor-in-chief Joel Petersson Ivre and senior editor Josh Doyle sat down with Leave voter Andy Edge to discuss why he decided to vote leave, and what he thinks about the tumultuous process that has unfolded throughout British politics.

How are foreigners, especially those that look very different from Koreans, received in Korea? How can they deal with the unfamiliar situations they find themselves in?

In this episode of the NOVAsia Podcast, editor Suhena Mehra is joined by Mariam Maréchal, a French student at Yonsei University who shares her experience of being black in Korea.

South Korea is a highly homogenous country, where foreigners account for only 4% of the entire population. As Korean working population has begun to decrease, the country will increasingly need to rely on foreigners to fill the gaps made up by the country's aging workforce.
