Monsieur Thibaut Voleur, the world's greatest art thief, has been systematically replacing masterpieces in the Louvre with forgeries. Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to go through the museum's galleries and identify the forgeries. If you are successful, then all you have to do at the end is unlock Thibaut's private vault to recover the stolen artwork.

Being something of an art snob (and sadistic killer, two character traits that some would argue are closely related), Monsieur Voleur does not take kindly to amateurs who attempt to uncover his secrets. Therefore, you must be absolutely certain when you decide that a particular painting is a fake. If you are wrong, you will be blown to bits by the explosives Thibaut has so thoughtfully planted within each gallery. (What a sweet guy!)

M. Voleur has sprinkled clues along the way that provide the combination to his vault. Where are the clues and what do they mean? That’s for Thibaut to know and for you to find out!

Bonne chance!

What's New in Version 2.0.0

(1) Thibaut has added a new game to the app: "Name the Painter". Ten paintings are chosen at random from the Museum and presented one at a time. The player must select the name of the painter who created the masterpiece in question from a list of artists' names.

Sometimes the correct answer is "None of the above" -- particularly when Thibaut tries to pass off one of his own creations as legitimate. (Prior to becoming a master art thief and forger, Thibaut studied art at the Sorbonne. Unfortunately, he was kicked out after he "borrowed" a Picasso that was on loan to the school in order to take it home for closer examination. And what was the harm in that?)

The player's top ten "Name the Painter" scores are preserved between sessions.

(2) The "Forgery!" game has been changed as follows:

(a) A "Hint" button is now available at the Beginner and Intermediate levels. When the player asks for a hint, a rectangle is drawn around the area of the painting that makes it a forgery.

(b) At the Art Expert level, the way in which the clues for the combination to Thibaut's Vault are hidden was completely redesigned. A black light scanner is now available to assist the Art Expert in searching for clues.

(c) New paintings and new forgeries have been added.
