In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

Key Features:
- Give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle.
- Pause the game mid-combat to evaluate your strategy and give orders.
- Upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of seven diverse alien races.
- Hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions.
- Each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. No two play-throughs will be quite the same.
- Permadeath means when you die, there's no coming back. The constant threat of defeat adds importance and tension to every action.

Great Game

FTL, along with Dwarf Fortress and the latest, the Banished Vault are 3 games I spend hours on and have never really "won". It’s never the same each time you play. Making decisions and traversing the sectors keeps me coming back. Unlocking shops and layouts keeps me coming back for 1 more adventure. Glad I made this purchase years back.

It's THE definitive spaceship game

If you never played FTL before:
.. and you feel the screenshots aren't appealing to you, don't worry, it works really well for the game and it cleanly makes a lot of sense. It's the best spaceship strategy/simulation ever made, won highly acclaimed awards, the gamers and gamedevs' game. It's not an easy game but your $$ will worth many, many, MANY times over many games with similar or even higher pricing. Read the reviews from websites, several of them, and you'll only find praises for its brilliance.

If you bought and played the PC version:
What are you waiting for? This iPad port is really fluid and thoroughly well thought. And for me personally, iPad is the ultimate platform as an entire 8 sectors game will take a few hours if you're playing carefully, breaking it in multiple shorter sessions suits iPad playing pretty well. Subset Games and whoever helping them porting this game did a very fine job!

It's amazing and you should definitely check it out.

FTL is a great game with a huge tactical soul, and above all it's the only game that puts you in control of a spaceship and its crew against all the odds of a dangerous journey. The price point may turn some people off but I felt that it's worth every buck. The developers really optimise this game to run smoothly on iPad. I find no problems running and playing the game for my iPad 3. I recommend new players turn off "advanced edition content". It's additional content to make the game harder and interesting, so go ahead to turn on the advanced edition content once you gotten the hang of it. I hope this review helps and thank you for reading it. I am still having tons of fun with it and my love for this game made me write this review.
